Occupational, Environmental Health and Safety
Today, any company hoping to survive must provide a safe work environment and must avoid creating a public health hazard through pollution. A clean, safe environment enables you to compete at a lower cost of running the business. History offers many recent examples of even major businesses that have entered bankruptcy or shut down because of healthcare liability resulting from injuries, loss of productivity, high employee attrition, poor occupational work environment, or violation of environmental standards.
Healthy workers create financially healthy companies. We help you do precisely do that.
Currently, about 14,000 corporations in U.S.A. are listed on the OSHA penalty list for violations of various kinds. Are you one of them? The violations vary from not having proper EXIT signs to exposing the employees to hazardous chemicals that could cause illnesses or be fatal.
We offer a variety of services to improve occupational and environmental health.
Our world-class expert team offers services ranging from a basic but very professional OSHA Site Safety Audit of your facility, which can help reduce proposed OSHA penalties, to a comprehensive corporate wellness program making your company safer and more attractive for your people to come and work delivering more productivity. These efforts, almost by default, help your company achieve a Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star status as we walk you through that roadmap.
We can help you deal with employee or general public concerns about possible health effects. As the workforce grows older, for example, cancer clusters appear that people tend to associate with the workplace or with industrial pollution;. Workers worry about indoor air quality and mold. A thorough medical specialist evaluation combined with medical risk communication provides tremendous leverage to resolve the lost productivity and costs such concerns generate. In the rare case in which a problem is found, we can help you regain control and emerge with your reputation intact.

OSHA/EPA Site Audits
Our team of medical and workplace safety experts can visit your site, identify site safety, health, and environmental compliance problems and recommend how to correct deficits found.
OSHA Penalty Reduction Program
OSHA is willing to work with employers who are making a good-faith effort to correct problems that led to a citation. The knowledge that a company is committed to working with a qualified team of safety and health experts often leads to significant abatement of penalties. In the process of correcting the problems that led to citations, the employer will find it a relatively short distance to attaining the VPP Star status. Occasionally, a citation is subject to direct challenge.

VPP Star Status
OSHA established the Voluntary Protection Programs for companies who implement a comprehensive safety and health management system. In practice, VPP sets performance-based criteria for a managed safety and health system, invites sites to apply, and then assesses applicants against these criteria. OSHAs verification includes an application review and a rigorous onsite evaluation by a team of OSHA safety and health experts. OSHA will help applicants meet the criteria for acceptance. The Star program is appropriate for most locations, but there are Merit and Star Demonstration programs appropriate for certain sites.

Public Health Crisis Management
Many different types of public health crises can affect a business. Some of the more common are concerns about a cluster of cancers or other diseases developing among workers.
Concerns over an outbreak of infectious disease (such as the Four Corners area Hanta virus of a few years back or diagnosis of tuberculosis in employees) among workers, and community concerns about hazardous materials used in or generated by industries.
Medical doctors knowledgeable about workplace, environmental, and public health can determine whether there really is anything unusual happening and can explain risks in a way that calms people and enables them to take reasonable actions, if needed, to protect themselves.
People trust physicians, respond well to medical risk communication and the therapeutic listening involved in gathering and explaining information about the perceived problem, and will accept an honest statement of medical risks much more readily than public affairs pronouncements. We provide a rare expertise in recovery from crises and even in preparation for and recovery from terrorist attacks.
